Russell Abney

Russell Jean Abney 67 years old, returned to our Heavenly Father peacefully on April 9, 2015 surrounded by his loving wife and family. Born April 18, 1947 to Roscoe Abney and Ruby Ashby Abney. He married the love of his life, Julia Ann Greenhalgh on December 20, 1966. Then sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple December 20, 1973.

He served faithfully as a LDS Bishop, Stake President and many other callings with in the church. He always knew what he wanted in life and did whatever it took to accomplish it. No matter how busy he was if he saw any one in need, he would stop whatever he was doing and go help in whatever way he could. Russell was a hard worker his entire life. He was a CPA, owned his own firm for several years. He was partners in a trailer repair business for many years and owned a Plumbing contractors company in Las Vegas NV for several years. Russell loved to build homes. He built 3 homes in his life time. He loved to help his family with their home projects as well. He loved to work. He loved going to movies with his sweetheart, traveling and eating Churro’s in Disneyland.

Russell is survived by his mother Ruby Ashby Abney, wife Julia Ann Greenhalgh Abney, 8 children, Wendy Chapman (Dave), Kimberly Yates (Todd), Todd Abney (Susan), Candi Hamre (Cory), Teresa Lords (Justin), Shanna Aker, Jamie Martin (Sean), Brett Abney (Suellen), 32 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren, 2 sisters Carma Broadbent and Sabrina Ortega. He was preceded in death by his father Roscoe Abney and an infant sister.

There will be a memorial on Saturday April 18, 2015 at 7:00 pm at the LDS Chapel 3836 West 4100 South, WVC, UT. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Dorothy Woolsey

Dorothy Woolsey Willis, 67, of Mapleton passed away October 1, 2014 at her home after a long and valiant battle with lung cancer.

Dorothy was born July 10, 1947 in Cedar City to Hal and Lasca Munson Woolsey. She married Lowell Willis on August 19, 1966 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Dorothy grew up in Kearns and graduated from Granger High School in 1965. She raised her family in both Orem and Lindon. Dorothy enjoyed family outings to Lake Powell and Lake Mead. She was a devoted member of the LDS Church and served faithfully in many callings including Relief Society and Primary President. Dorothy loved to make quilts for her grandchildren and was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker.

She is survived by her husband Lowell of Mapleton; four children: Greg (Kami) Willis, Lehi; Kenny (Kathy) Willis, Roosevelt; Amy (Richard) Garrick, Woodland Hills and Lindsey Willis (Michael), Salt Lake; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; father: Hal (Jo) Woolsey, Kearns and six siblings: Jillyn, Dale, Annette, Gordon, Alan and Brian. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lasca.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 6, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Mapleton Fourth Ward Chapel, 1316 South Main Street, Mapleton. Family and friends may attend a viewing Sunday evening from 6-8 pm at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Monday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Lindon City Cemetery.

Ruth Pryor

On August 23, 2014 our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Ruth Pryor Nelson, was doing what she loved more than life itself, spending time with one of her grandchildren, Jacob, when they were both suddenly called home to their Heavenly Father.

On November 21, 1947 Ruth was born to two loving parents, Lloyd and Bonnie Ellis Pryor. At a young age Ruth learned the value of hard work. She spent countless hours with her dad in his wood shop. She is an accomplished violinist. She and her sisters were a well known string quartet and played often for the folks in the Taylorsville-Granger area. God blessed Ruth with a beautiful voice! She sang in many choirs. She enjoyed canning and was a great cook. She was an obsessive square dancer, dancing across the western states.

She married Michael Theron Olsen in the Salt Lake Temple in 1968 and they had five children; he preceded her in death. Married Kirt Soderquist in 1997; he preceded her in death. Married D. Gary Nelson in 2009.

Mom was a straight A student. She graduated Valedictorian in 1967 from Granger High School and attended the University of Utah. Her passion was helping people get well. She was an angel on earth. She cared more about people than things. Ruth was an office manager at Best Chiropractic for 25 years with Dr. Perry Lofthouse, 14 years working with her son, Dr. Wayne M. Olsen. She helped and made friends with thousands of patients who love her dearly. Mom has finally retired! Ruth's family was her greatest accomplishment. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many capacities. She showed all of us how to love the Lord, inspiring all five of her children to serve missions. Ruth and her amazing husband, Gary, tried to make it to every sporting event, dance and musical recital. She was a great softball player in her day, her friends fittingly called her "Babe Ruth". Ruth loved all of her children whether they be Olsen, Soderquist or Nelson.

Survived by husband, Gary; children: Rodger (Nicole), Wayne (Jenny), Deanne (Robert) Brown, Jack (Jodi) and Ronda (Matt) Freed; beloved stepchildren; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret (Dan) Williams, Rosalee (Grant) Oakeson; brother-in-law, Alan Arnesen; brothers, Thomas (Eileen) Pryor and John (Marcia) Pryor. Also preceded in death by parents; sister, Echo; son-in-law, Carlos Santos; grandson, Jacob Santos; niece, Annette Nelson; nephews, Kurt Nelson and Cameron Clark.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 29, 2014, 11:30 a.m. at the Welby Stake Center, 8841 South 4800 West, West Jordan. Viewings will be held Thursday, August 28, 2014, 5-9:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, and Friday, August 29, 2014 at the church, 10-11:00 a.m. Interment, Crescent Cemetery.

Robert Wells

Robert Thomas Wells, Jr. was born April 8, 1947 in Salt Lake City, UT to Robert Thomas and Faye Davis Wells.

Robert married Jackie Kay Harrison.  He resided in Moab, UT.

Robert passed away around August 3, 2014 from COPD.

Comments from his friend, Rick: Robert was a wonderful person. He had so many talents, music being the one I remembered most. He could play and sing any song with his guitar and voice. He went into the Air Force, like many of us did in the 60s. He became educated and was a scientist in his own right. He invented and manufactured medical devices to help people and even provided astrological information at the local newspaper in Moab, Utah. He is a hero in my mind.

Gary Marcotte

Gary Duane Marcotte, 66, was born on July 15, 1947, and passed away on April 10, 2014.  Gary was born in Superior, Nebraska to Leo Marcotte and Glendora (Davis) Marcotte.   He graduated from Granger High School and served in the Army during the Vietnam War. 

He married Elizabeth Edgar in 1974 and together they had one son, Gary Saige Marcotte.  Gary retired from Boilermakers Local 182 after working over 30 years .    His love for motorcycles started at a very young age and continued throughout his life.   In fact, he is probably riding one in heaven.

  

Gary is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Edgar, his son, Gary Saige Marcotte; his siblings:  Sandra Shaw, Vicki Benson, Danny Marcotte (Hannah), Denise Blaylock, Brian Griffiths (Toni), and stepsister, Becky Gonzales (Carl).  He is preceded in death by his father, Leo Marcotte, his mother, Glendora Davis and his stepbrother, Gary Griffiths.   The family would like to thank Saige for his loving care of his dad, as well as Inspiration Hospice and many close friends for their support during Gary’s short fight with cancer.   A celebration of life is being planned please contact a family member for further information on date and time.

Patty Kilby

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away peacefully at her home in Sandy City on April 7, 2014 surrounded by her family. She battled cancer and other health ailments valiantly for many years, but finally lost her battle and returned to her Heavenly Father. Patty was looking forward to seeing her mother again, who preceded her in death. 

Patty was born to Arthur and Beatrice Kilby on May 17, 1947 in Price, Utah. She married the love of her life Jerry Townsend on December 8, 1984 in Salt Lake City. Jerry and Patty loved to play golf and travel together. Patty loved spending time with her family, including going on camping trips with them. She was a fun loving person and adored her grandkids who loved her dearly. She always made her grandkids smile, especially when she shared her vivacious laugh. Patty also enjoyed spending time with her close friends and took time to go out with them often. 

Patty is survived by her loving husband Jerry Townsend, who could always be found at her side. She is also survived by her daughter Tiffany Naylor; son Brian (Triscia) Callister; three stepdaughters:  Debbie McColley, Nicole Caroen, and Danielle James; two stepsons: Jay and Robert Hiatt; her father Arthur Kilby; two brothers: Jerry (Kaye) Kilby and Jeff (Carol) Kilby; sister Kitty (Lynn) McEwan; her grandkids whom she adored and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 11 am at the Alta Heights Ward, 8600 S. 1475 E., Sandy. A viewing will be held on Friday, April 11, 2014 from 6-8 pm at the ward and one hour prior to the service.

Pat Jensen

Patrick D. Jensen 1947 ~ 2013 Patrick Dana Jensen passed away peacefully July 23, 2013 due to liver failure. Pat was born February 12, 1947 in Long Beach, California to Fredrick Lisle and Vivian Maxine Wingo Jensen. He grew up in Kearns, Utah and graduated from Granger High School in 1965. Graduated with a Bachelors Degree from Utah State University. 

He loved sports, especially softball, in which he excelled, playing in several national tournaments and was a member of a state championship team while at USU. Pat enjoyed the outdoors and fishing with his family in Mexico and Strawberry Reservoir in Utah. He was a school teacher for several years; however, he worked in the automatic fire protection sprinkler business most of his working life. Pat was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and, after retirement, enjoyed being a temple worker at the Jordan River Temple. 

Pat is preceded in death by his father and mother. Survived by his daughter, Tiffany; brothers Fred (ReNae), Mark, Kim (Mia), Kelley (Paula), Chris (Lisa); and many nieces and nephews. 

A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 27, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.

Eric Muramoto

Eric Minoru Muramoto passed away fighting a brave battle against cancer on July 9, 2013. He joins his father, his mother and his son in heaven. He was 66-years old.

Eric was born July 6, 1947 in Los Angeles, California to Kate and Jack Muramoto. He was the oldest of eight children, all of whom survive - Allison, Gary, Curtis, Mark, Pam, and the twins, Jackie and Becky. He was a responsible young man, assisting his mother in raising his brothers and sisters. He graduated from Granger High School, where he played tennis competitively. After high school, he fulfilled his civic duty and joined the United States Army, serving two years in the Vietnam War. He was awarded a service accommodation medal.

In Salt Lake City he met his partner for life, Nancy Ihle. They were married July 24, 1969. This was his second marriage. He had two children, Jodie and Justin, and raised a step-daughter Sherrie, all of whom he loved deeply. His greatest joys in life were coaching his kids in sports, the outdoors and riding his motorcycle. He worked at Chevron Salt Lake Refinery for 30 years. After retiring from the refinery, he moved to Phoenix, Arizona to be with his family and accepted his dream job with Saudi Chevron. He worked in Al-Jubail, Saudi Arabia for 13 years. He is remembered as happy, gentle, generous, warm, friendly, and quiet.

Eric enjoyed his life in Phoenix. He and his wife adored each other. He loved spoiling his daughter-in-law, Amie, and his granddaughters, Aubrey and Jessica. He enjoyed long bike rides with his close friend, Kirk Tinsley. He always had a camping or fishing trip planned with his son Justin and his son-in-law Marcello Caputi. He and his family lived an idyllic life. He will be missed.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, July 17th, 2013 from 6:30pm-8:00pm at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Road, Goodyear, Arizona.

Willemina Blok

Fredrika Willemina "Willy" Blok Arganbright of Beaver Dam, AZ, passed away peacefully at home on April 28, 2013.

She was born in Rotterdam, Netherlands, on November 16, 1946. Willy and her family immigrated to America when she was the age of three, and eventually settled with her family in Granger (West Valley City), Utah. She graduated from Granger High, and attended the University of Utah where she met her best friend and future husband William John Arganbright. They were married on December 30, 1968. 

For 22 years they resided and raised their family in West Jordan, Utah. Willy worked for American Express for 19 of those years as a customer service rep. After retirement they moved to Beaver Dam, AZ. She loved traveling and being with her lifelong good friends. Her cabin in the mountains near Cedar City was a peaceful fun gathering place for all her friends and family. Willy has five wonderful grandchildren. She enjoyed all the fun and love they brought her.

Willy is survived by: her Husband (Bill); Son Donald (Don) and wife Sharon; and Daughter Katherine (Kathy) and Husband Bryan Hale; her brother, Johan Blok, and wife Regina.  Willy was preceded in death by her parents Len and Johanna Blok.

Tony Kidder

Tony Edward Kidder, 66, passed away on April 21, 2013 at his home in Kearns, Utah. He was born on March 21, 1947 in Park City, Utah to Edward William and Betty Loraine Vidic Kidder. 

Tony married Denise Peterson in Elko, Nevada on October 8, 1989. 

He served as a United States Marine in the Vietnam War. 

Survived by his wife, Denise; children, Johnny, Shad, Joey, Cody, Billy and Julie; two grandchildren; siblings, Tom, Tim, Robin, Ronica and Roberta. Preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Utah.

Bill Corpron

Dec. 6, 1946 - Feb. 3, 2013

"Bill" was the oldest son born to Edward and Ruby Corpron. He was born in Michigan and moved with his family to Utah at a young age. His desire to serve others led him to become a Firefighter and an EMT. He worked for Salt Lake County Fire and then retired after more than twenty years. After retirement he worked in Couer d' Alene, Idaho until his death.

Dad loved a good deal and always bought in bulk. He loved athletics, photography, and nature. He had an infectious laugh. He was a man with strong work ethic and everyone around him enjoyed his company. He loved movies and working on new projects. Up until the day he passed he loved riding bikes through the mountains of Idaho.

His children have found success following his work ethic for which we are grateful. We miss you and love you Dad!

He is survived by his five children,11 grandchildren, 2 sisters and one brother.

Judy Bevilhymer

May 6, 1947 ~ October 1, 2012

Judith Ellen Bevilhymer Killey, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and treasured friend, passed away October 1, 2012 from complications due to cancer. Born in Murray, Utah, May 6, 1947 to Albert Lee (Sr.) and Eunice Ardella Williams Bevilhymer. Graduated Granger High in 1965. Married David William Killey December 24, 1973.

Judy enjoyed a wide range of activities from boating, fishing and camping to organizations like the Delta Red Hats, Hinckley Lions Club, and her pride and joy in recent years, the Great Basin Museum. Judy loved doing crafts of all types, especially home décor, cut glass projects and had become quite the bedazzler! She loved taking her grandchildren on outings such as rock hunting, rodeos and derbies, fishing or swimming at the reservoir, or even just to the movies.

Judy was a special person who was willing to help anyone with anything. She had a huge heart and all who knew her loved her. Survived by her husband David, daughter Kim, grandson Davey, granddaughter Ashley, several honorary family members, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, both her brothers, several wonderful friends, and baby David.

An open house and viewing in her honor will be held Sunday, October 7, 2012, from 4-7 pm at Nickle Mortuary, 190 S. Center St., Delta, UT. There will be an informal program at 5:00 pm.

Bill Devenish

Harold William Devenish 1946 ~ 2012 Harold William Devenish born Nov. 8, 1946 passed away on Friday April 20, 2012 after a short illness. 

He was born to Harold A. and Twila M. Nye Devenish in Salt Lake City, Utah where he lived most of his life. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era and later in the Army Reserves. 

Bill was an accomplished drummer and played in a number of bands. He was proudest of his participation in Horst Fidel and the Bavarians who entertained many people during Octoberfest at Snowbird Ski Resort. 

He is survived by wife, Colleen; children, Andrew (Kristie), Aaron and Amanda (Charles); and seven grandchildren; sister, Lu Eileen Arnold and Conni Clawson. He was preceded in death by parents. 

Funeral services will be held Tues. April 24, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with viewing one hour before at the Granger W. 7th Ward at 4460 W. Courtney Dr. A viewing will be held Monday evening at the church from 6-8 P.M. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.premierfuneral.com.

Leslie Youngdell

4/23/47 ~ 4/4/2012 Leslie John Youngdell passed away in his sleep after his second battle with cancer, on April 4, 2012, with his wife by his side.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene Forsgren Youngdell, his children: Celeste, Tami (Brian), Heather, Dustin (Danielle), Ashley (Lorne), and Brooke (Blayne) and 10 grandchildren.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved fishing and just being with his family, especially the grandkids.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lakeridge 8th Ward, 3735 S. 7525 W. Jon Anast

1947 ~ 2012

WELLINGTON, UT-Jon Richard Anast, age 65, passed away February 20, 2012 at his home.

He was born January 9, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Chris and Betty Louise Skinner Anast. Jon was raised in Granger, Utah where he earned his Eagle Scout with the great assistance of Merlon Latimer, who was a wonderful role model.

Jon was proud to serve his country for four years in the United States Coast Guard as a radioman. He completed his requirements of a Bachelor's degree in business from the University of Utah, specializing in accounting. Jon rose from a teller at Valley Bank to an officer of their headquarters. He moved to Price with H & J and later worked for Northwest Pipeline Company. Jon was also a third party consultant for IBM. Over the years Jon bought and sold numerous small businesses in Price; The Business Den, Southeast Aluminum Company, SEACO Construction, Southeast Paint, T & A Sweeping, Southeast Piano Works, Anast Enterprises, 2 G Corp, and his last business venture Carbon Copy Center. During these years he had the support of two outstanding women, Sharon Stoddard Katsavrias in the early years and later Janel McDougald Anast.

Under extraordinary circumstances Jon reunited with his childhood sweetheart, Dr. Nancy Futrell, with whom he spent the best four years of his life. With her he enjoyed the finer things in life, and he respected her hard work and determination. She was truly the love of his life.

Jon was active in many civic and community projects throughout Carbon County. He was a member of the Carbon Country Club, Kiwanis, and Price Elk's Lodge # 1550. It is said a man's weal

Jon was proud of his Greek heritage and was grateful to his mentors in the Greek Orthodox Church, including the Metropolitan Isaiah in his youth and Father Athanasios Emmert over the last 15 years. He considers Father Athanasios his spiritual father and admires his faith, determination and scholarly accomplishments.

Jon is survived by his wife, Nancy Futrell Anast; two sons and two daughters, Lance (Kelly) Anast, Laurie (Mike) Tryon, Tony (Kris) Anast, Melissa Anast; step-daughter, Michelle (Bert) Bruno; 10 grandchildren, Nicholas , Krisalyn, Ashley, Alex Jo, Makenzie, Alex, BreAnn, Ryann, Jaycey, Kaylee and great-grandchild, Brynnlee; and his beloved brother, George (Joyce) Anast.

Preceded in death by his mother, Betty; father, Chris; and his brother Jeffrey Anast.

Steve Kofoed

Steve passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2011, after a long battle with complications from cancer. Born May 10,1947 to parents Jedd Arlo and Colleen Pollock Kofoed in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Steve is survived by his loving wife Sheila of 25 years, his daughter Tracy J (Christopher) Pearson, sister Sandy (Jim) Clark, father Jedd (Dorothy) Kofoed, & nephew Brad Myers & family. He was preceded in death by his mother Colleen Kofoed and nephew Steven Myers.

Steve was a vibrant, active man loved by many. He served his country in the Vietnam War & was a lineman for over 40 years, working with power companies in Utah, Arizona, and Nevada. Steve and Sheila moved to Kingman, AZ in 1989 where he worked with Nevada Power and received multiple awards for his excellent service.

Steve and Sheila spent many happy years doing the things they both loved, often taking off for the day on their Harley Davidson or in one of their Corvettes. They shared their love of dogs and always had at least one in their home, often in tow on one of their many road trips.

Per Steve's request, no services were held. True to his selfless nature, Steve made the altruistic decision to donate his body to the UofU Medical Research Center in hopes he could aid in further research of cancer treatment. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother & friend & will be missed by many.

DeAnn Lilly

"Code One"
DeAnn Lilly Nunn returned home to her Father in Heaven Wednesday, November 9, 2011 after a long and valiant battle with liver disease. DeAnn fought hard to overcome her illness and always greeted each day with a positive outlook and nothing in this world would slow her down.

Born July 4, 1947 and, like her birthday, was a true firecracker!. She was given in adoption to two amazing parents, Edward and Mildred May Jensen Lilly and was a true gift from God for them. She found her lifetime partner and soul mate in Arthur Thomas Nunn and together they built a life of happiness and love. She was an amazing mother who taught her children to never give up, stand-up for what you believe, never take no as an answer, and above all the only thing we have in this life to hold onto is family.

She was greeted in the arms of loved ones, at the doors of heaven , by daughter, Tamera Lynn Nunn; brother, Dallas Lilly; parents; aunt, Elna Buehler; sister-in-law, Sandra (Max) Romero. Jack Cavanee

Jack Roy Cavanee "Papa Jack" WASHINGTON, UTAH - Jack Roy "Papa Jack" Cavanee passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side Sunday, June 26, 2011 after a courageous three month battle with a brain tumor. 

He was born the youngest of three children, in Hunter, Utah on November 2, 1946 to Dennis E. and LaUna B. Cavanee. He met his high school sweetheart at Granger High School, Connie Orr, in 1963. They were married in 1966 and together raised three children, Jason, Josh and Angie. 

Jack proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. 

He has seven grandchildren: Maqael Jean Cavanee, Kaleigh Jean Cavanee, Anthony Jack Scartezina, Kennedy Taylor Cavanee, Jackson Douglas Cavanee, Daytona Jean Cavanee and Dalton Joshua Cavanee. Maqael was the oldest of the grandchildren. She enjoyed spoiling Jack during his recent illness. She often visited and supplied him with his favorite shake and fries. Jack enjoyed playing and teasing all of his grandchildren. He is so proud of each and every one of them.

m Kennecott Copper and Utah Power and Light. In the last few years, he turned his hobby into his career and opened up his own Chrome and Powder Coating shop. Many people know him by Papa Jack's Chrome. He had a passion for life; in particular, he always loved cars. Race or antique he enjoyed working them to perfection. His kids and grandkids enjoyed watching him turn a diamond in the rough into a piece of detailed art. Jack and Connie loved to get in one of their cars and attend car shows, local or out-of-state. Many lifelong friendships were made through attending car shows and many of those close friends became family. Jack loved the outdoors. He and Connie enjoyed spending time at their cabin that they built in the Uinta Mountains. He loved to ride motorcycles, four wheelers and snowmobiles, and he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He shared this love with his kids and grandkids. Jack was the master of fixing and repairing all things - he was the "Jack" of all trades. He was famous for his whistling while he worked. He believed that a deal was a deal and a handshake sealed the deal. 

Jack is survived by his wife, Connie Orr Cavanee; children: Jason (Sandy) Cavanee, Joshua (April) Cavanee and Angie (Dan) Scartezina and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother. A special thanks from Papa Jack and his family to all the staff at the VA Hospital in Salt Lake City; especially to Dr. Parry, Dr. Kurt, Michelle, Lane, Connie, Jeff, Mike, Byron, MaryAnn, Dana and so many more extraordinary care givers!

Melody Ware

Melody A. Fols, Branson West, MO, daughter of Mason and Catherine (Sanders) Ware was born April 13, 1947 in Springdale, AR and departed this life February 22, 2011, in her home, at the age of 63.

Melody had lived in the area since 2009 coming from Newark, DE and was a retired banker. She loved bowling, traveling and riding horses. Melody was a collector of hummingbirds and enjoyed spending leisure time watching them. She was a member of Keystone Assembly of God.

Melody was preceded in death by her husband Joseph D. Fols Sr., her parents and brothers, Mason T. Ware and Matthew A. Ware.  

Survivors include: two sons, Joseph D. Fols and Stephen M. Fols both of Newark, DE; two daughters, Catherine Ann Fols of Branson West, MO and Cheryl McCauley of Newark, DE; one sister, Sandra W. Hollingsworth of Branson West, MO; four grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 25, 2011 at Stumpff Funeral Home-South, Kimberling City with Pastor John Barns officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to Hospice Compassus.

Robert Lauber

Born July 18th 1946 to Dolores Dean Stein (deceased) and Arthur LeRoy Lauber (deceased), returned home February 8, 2011 in Bountiful, UT.

Bob was the oldest brother of Jack Lauber, Russ Lauber and Kendall Lauber (deceased). He is survived by his wife, Gloria Jane Hadley Lauber, whom he married February 21, 1964. Bob is survived by his daughters, Bonnie Anderson, Brenda Grose, Rosa Lauber, Kerry Smith, Carmen Lauber and Christine Vickers. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, all of whom loved him dearly.

Vermillion Utah Bob was an avid marksman and deeply enjoyed attending Cowboy Action Shooting events and Mountain Man Rendezvous. He was a great lover of the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and camping with his family as often as possible. The great outdoors will never be the same without him.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 12 noon at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E South Temple, SLC where a viewing will be held Friday 6 - 8 p.m. and one hour before services Saturday.

Our beloved husband, father, brother and friend passed away on Saturday, January 29th surrounded by his loving family.  He was born April 4th, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the youngest of nine children, to Floyd Ellis and Anna LaPreal (Nilsson) Hiatt. 

He married Beverly Jean Slama on October 25th, 1969 in West Jordan, Utah. 

Steve worked for Kennecott Copper and retired after 33 years of service and was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Jean, and his three children: son, Stephen (Barbara) Hiatt and daughters,  Bobbie (Wade) Robison, Tami (Gary) Black, and six grandchildren; sisters: Rosella (Don) Kilpack, Margie Eggli, Iris Whitaker, Gloria Stickney and one brother, Floyd Ellis Hiatt Jr. (Linda). 

Steve's life will be honored on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011 at the Broomhead Funeral Home located at 12600 So. 2200 W. in Riverton. Viewing from 11-1:00; Funeral Services 1-2:00; A military interment will take place on Monday, Feb. 7th at 1:30 p.m. at Utah Veterans Memorial Park, located at 17111 So. Camp Williams Rd. MONTROSE - Kenneth (Ken) Bryan Atchley passed away Jan. 4, 2011, at his home in Montrose, CO.

Ken was born on March 27, 1947 in Delta, CO. to William Bryan Atchley Jr. and Eleanor L. (Markley) Atchley. When Ken was 3 years old, his father drowned in a fishing accident on Grand Mesa. His mother married his second father, W. Glenn Piner when Ken was about 4 years old. In pursuit of Glenn's aviation career, they lived in Montrose, Moab, Grand Junction and finally Salt Lake City, UT. He was privileged to spend his summers with his grandparents, W. Bryan and Gertrude Atchley in Delta, CO. every year. Many memories were made with aunts, uncles, great-grandparents and cousins during those summer months.

Ken graduated from Granger High School in 1965. He entered the Navy in 1966 during the Vietnam War, serving on the USS Enterprise for 29 months. He was honorably discharged in 1970. He attended Westminster College in Salt Lake City for two years. He returned to Colorado in 1972 where he met and then married Debbie Hampton on June 29, 1974. They celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary in June, 2010. Ken worked at the Idarado Mine south of Ouray as a miner. After being laid off from the mine, he embarked on his career as a lineman for Delta-Montrose Electric Association. He retired from DMEA after 34 years of employment. Ken's hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping with friends and relatives, and the challenges of untangling his kids fishing lines. Ken attended Christ's Church of the Valley and was a charter member. He loved the Lord, his church and his church family.

Ken is survived by his wife Debbie; his three sons, Bryan (Jenny) Atchley, Erie, CO, Kevin (Amber) Atchley, Brighton, CO, Brent (Angie) Atchley, Westminster, CO; two grandsons, Jonathan Cahalan and Noah Kenneth Atchley; mother, Eleanor Piner of West Valley City, UT; three sisters, Glenda (Andy) Clack of Packwood, Wash., Lindy (Dave) Fowkes of Magna, UT and Tracie (Elliott) Reid of South Jordan, UT; brother-in-law, Bob (Gail) Hampton of Montrose; sisters-in-law, Gladys (Jim) Carroll of Villa Grove, CO, Raetta Leiker of Parker, CO; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Ken was preceded in death by his grandparents; fathers, William Bryan Atchley Jr. and W. Glenn Piner; mother-in-law, Sylvia Hampton; brother-in-law, Jim Leiker; twin granddaughters, Emily Ann and Emma Mae Atchley.

Lowell Tolman

Lowell C Tolman, age 63, passed away March 23, 2010 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He was born February 23, 1947 in Fairview, Wyoming to Alvin Tolman and Phyllis Chadwick. He married Irene Potochnick on December 30, 1971. Lowell was a man with a zest for life. His work at Delta Airlines enabled him to indulge his twin passions for travel and food. From the aisles of a dark Taylorsville mink shed to the crumbling ruins of the Roman Coliseum, Lowell truly grabbed all that life handed him. He was well read and loved to write. His skill with words and witty Christmas letters will be missed by family and friends alike. He was a medical miracle, often referred to as the “energizer bunny” – he kept going and going, surviving leukemia and countless brain tumors. Lowell took a road well traveled and left a precious gift for all of those lucky enough to have come in contact with him.

Lowell is survived by his loving wife, Irene Tolman; daughter, Marquette (Jeff) Smith; parents, Palmer and Phyllis Ashe; siblings, Anna (Ray) Olsen, Wendell (Deanna) Tolman, Clair (Christine) Tolman and Ryan (Penny) Tolman; 2 grandchildren, Rodger and Melissa Smith. Preceded in death by his father, Alvin Tolman.

Lynn Evans

Lynn Evans, 63, passed away at his home on December 24, 2009 due to sudden complications from a stroke that he suffered in 1994.

He was born on November 13, 1946 in Murray, Utah, the last of four children to Thomas Mervin and Edith Towler Evans.

He married Sherry Ann Southworth on July 6, 1976, and had five children. They later divorced.

He married Renee' Gertsch on June 22, 1985 in the Jordan River Temple, and they lived in West Valley City for 24 years.

He is survived by his wife and five children: Christopher; Jared; Kimberlee (Aguayo), Shelynn and Jordan, all of Salt Lake City.

Lynn was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and served a mission partially in Germany, and later Arizona. In 1976, he received a Bachelors of Science from the University of Utah and worked as an Accountant for the State of Utah, and was a member of the Nat'l. Association of Accountants. He served for 20 years in the United States Army Reserves and retired with the rank of Major.

He is also survived by five grandchildren: Shannon, Britney, Anthony, Kyra; and Elizabeth; siblings Mervin, Kathleen (Barnott), and Colleen (Kidd).

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 29, 12:00 noon at the Granger Fifteenth Ward, 2835 South 2855 West, West Valley City. Viewing will be held Monday, December 28, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S Redwood Rd. Interment, Taylorsville Cemetery.

Iliff Jay Gardner 1947 ~ 2009 Iliff Jay Gardner, age 62, of Taylorsville (formerly of Vernal), passed away on Nov. 23, 2009.

He was born January 20, 1947 in Payson, Utah to Iliff Lorenzo and Fern L. Burton Gardner.

Jay served in the United States Army for three years from 1966-1969.

Graveside services for Jay Gardner were conducted Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 12:00 Noon at the Neola Cemetery, with military honors from the American Legion post 11 & 124 and Army National Guard under the direction of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary

Walt Shewmake

Walter Thomas Shewmake 1947 ~ 2009 Walter Thomas Shewmake, 62, of West Valley City, passed away on September 15, 2009.

Walt was born in Pocatello, Idaho on January 13, 1947. Graduated from Granger High School, class of '65. Married his high school sweetheart, Nola Matthews August 27, 1966.

Walt was a Sheet Metal Worker for Local Union #312, for over 30 years, and served as an officer for the union for many years. Walt loved the many years he spent teaching apprenticeship welding. Walt was a Board Member for the Sheet Metal Credit Union, a member of the Salty City Ramblers Motorhome Club, and a lifetime member of the Salt Lake Motorcycle Club, where he served as President for several terms. Walt worked in the Penalty Box for the Golden Eagles and Grizzlies Hockey Teams for over 25 years.

Walt enjoyed traveling with his wife in their motorhome and spent the last several years traveling to new places, relaxing and meeting people. Walt was always good for a story and a laugh. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nola of 43 years; children, Thomas (Lorraine), Lisa Vis (Christopher), Susan Cowdell (Steve) and Lester (Ashley); six grandchildren; sister, Becky, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kelly.

Funeral Services for Walt will be held Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Jordan North 6th Ward, 3836 West 4100 South, West Valley City. Viewing to begin at 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.

Joe Winrow

Joe Winrow 1947 ~ 2009 Son, husband, dad, brother, uncle, coach, sports enthusiast and man extraordinaire passed from us on August 29, 2009. Joe was born February 1, 1947 to Bill and Betty Winrow. Their first born who brought them great joy. He was followed by two beautiful sisters, Debbie (Jay) Mark, Shauna Winrow (Laurel). Then came the love of his life, his little brother, Stan Winrow and exceptional nephew, Jeremy (Stan's son). They had some wonderful adventures together. Truly cherished memories will come from their times shared. 

Joe went to Granger High School and met lifetime friends. Joe was a Vietnam Vet and very proud of it. He flies a flag everyday in front of his home to show honor to his country. He loved the game of baseball. His beloved Yankees he lived for and traveled to watch play. He's excited to see Mickey Mantel. Joe played basketball for Utah, Dixie and for Westminster College's where he met his coach, Tom Steinke, whom he loved and honored. 

Joe married Debbie Bird (later divorced). From this union came his two wonderful children. His son Zachary Lee Winrow (Marie) and three grandchildren: Gannon, Scarlette, and Bella. His baby, Alexandra Lee Winrow and her daughter , Charlee. He loved his grandchildren. 

Joe worked for the Postal Service for 36 years. It was there he met in his own words, "his best friend-soul mate-love of his life" Mickey Winrow. They had crazy and wild adventures and always had fun. Mickey had a little baggage for Joe in the form of seven more children whom he took under his wing and raised as his own. He is lovingly known as "Pops" to John (Cathy) Gonzales, Michelle (Ray) Miera, Willie Archuleta (Alyssa), Joshua Archuleta, Bobby (Danielle) Archuleta and Mariah (lovingly known to him as "Mo") Krizman. Also deceased stepson, Anthony Archuleta. This added 14 more grandchildren and a mother-in-law, Maxine Ledkins and the Britton's. I love you all. They also had three kids of their own. Their beloved Shi-tzu's "Yankee Lee", "Corona Kay", and "Tinkerbell" aka E.T. He will surely miss them and they will miss him. 

Throughout his career at the Post Office, he met many wonderful friends. Farley, Hully, Big Bird, Shane, Woody, Webb, and great friend Jim Sargent. Thanks for your loyalty till the end. RIP Dave Bodily. Joe had a best friend throughout his life-Hoagy, and he wanted to make sure to let him know how much he loved him. "See you on the other side brother". Joe loved to play and watch all sports. He loved camping. His and Mickey's favorite mile marker 42 on Mirror Lake Highway where there were many Joe (Sasquatch) sightings up there. He also had great memories of he and his brother Stan camping and just having a great time together. 

He was preceded in death by his grandpa, Jesse McPherron whom he adored, Grandma Pearl McPherron, grandpa Rufus Winrow, grandmother Annie Winrow, his aunt Barbara whom he loved and missed terribly. Natalie I will tell her hello, I promise. 

Funeral services will be held Thursday Sept. 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, where a visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6 to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Thursday. Joe loved the good times, so to all his good timin friends there will be a wake in his honor at Carol's Cove 3424 South State Street, Suite D, South Salt Lake following the services Thursday (Lunch Provided). Please tell your loved ones how much you love them and always cheer for the Yanks!!! JOHN WAYNE LIVES!!!

Rea Jean Jones Selvage Betenson, 62, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on March 25, 2009 in Sandy, Utah.  Born October 8, 1946 in Murray, Utah, daughter of Henry Dean and Faye Fryrear Jones. Married Dennis Edward Selvage; later divorced. 

She loved cooking, giggling, sewing and enjoyed collecting memories and friends. 

Survived by children: Jason (Angela) Selvage, Stacy Kirkman, Kimberly (Phil) Henderson; grandchildren: Zack, Tyler, Nick, Bryton, Chase and Josh; sisters: Deana (Larry) Banks and Bobbi (Steve) Wynn. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 28, 2009, 1:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road where viewings will be held Friday, March 27, 2009, 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, 12-12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.

Terry Crowther

Terry Ray Crowther, age 61, died suddenly on March 12, 2009.

Terry was born on July 5, 1947 to Doyce and Darlyne Christensen Crowther in Mt Pleasant, UT. He lived in Moroni, UT until the age of 12 when his family moved to Kearns. He always called Sanpete County his second home.

Terry married Jo Ann (Jody) Motis on September 3, 1970. They were later divorced, but remained best friends. Graduating from Granger High School in 1965 he attended Snow College and Utah State University, and then served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

He was a member of the LDS church. He worked for Pollard Inc., Schocker Construction, and Staker Paving and was currently employed at Redmond Minerals. He loved his job and being captain of the houseboat. Terry loved to golf, ski, hunt and camp with friends. He was a very hard worker and practical jokester. He loved his family and friends and would do anything for them. He loved playing with his grand-daughters. They dearly miss their Papa Terry. We will always miss his smile!

He is survived by his daughter, Crystal (Anthony) deGreef; best friend and companion, Jody; mother, Darlyne; sister, Rolayne (Todd) Bruse; brothers, Robbie (Linda), Ricky; granddaughters, Grace and Zoe deGreef. He was preceded in death by his father, Doyce.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday March 18, 2009 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E 10600 S, Sandy, UT. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens and again from 10-11 a.m.prior to the funeral. Linda Waters

"We'll Miss You Mom" Lynda J. Nichols Reber of Salt Lake City passed away February 2, 2009.

Beloved daughter of Melvin H. Waters and Joyce A. Bell Waters (Heidrich), Lynda was known as "Lynn" to most friends. She was born July 1, 1947 in Salt Lake City. She married Paul M. Nichols April 28, 1964, and had three children, Leisa G. Nichols Shouse, Chris C. Nichols Nelson (Eric) and Michael S. Nichols; later divorced.

Lynda grew up in Salt Lake City, but moved to Arlington, Texas in 1979 and started a painting and sandblasting company. She was an avid driven business owner and loved the rewards of hard work. She returned to Salt Lake City in 1990 and continued to run her business. She loved the LDS Church, teaching Sunday school, spoiling her children and grandchildren, and her work. 

Preceded in death by her parents and older brother, Steven Waters. Survived by her children; four grandchildren, Zakary and Cody Shouse (Springtown, TX); and Lyndsey C. Nichols and Coltyn D. Nelson (Salt Lake City); two sisters, Pamela Ogaard and Karla Smith; four brothers, Gene Waters, Gary Waters, Scott Waters and Russ Waters, all of Salt Lake City; and two dogs, Peanut and Cookie.

She was a savvy businesswoman who excelled at leadership and was always willing to help those in need, often at great sacrifice to herself. She loved spring, summer picnics, the Wasatch Mountains and the sprawling valley. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cottonwood Acres Ward, 981 E. Revere Circle (5550 South). Friends and family may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State St., and from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at the church on Saturday prior to services. David Hofeling

David Earl Hofeling 1946 ~ 2009 David Earl Hofeling passed away January 27, 2009.  He was born December 25, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Edwin Eugene and Mildred Ames Hofeling. 

David attended Plymouth Elementary in Taylorsville and Valley Jr. High School, Granger High School, the University of Utah and Westminster College. He received an MBA from Westminster in 1991. He served in the US Army. David preferred a solitary life.

Survived by his four brothers: Gene (Jerrie) Hofeling, Ed (Lee) Hofeling, Don (Pat) Hofeling and Jack Hofeling; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Kelly Hofeling. A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held Monday, 12-2:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Utah Food Bank, Homeless Shelter or your favorite charity.

Randy Williams

LAYTON – On July 24, 2008 we lost the most wonderful man in our lives. Rand W. Williams passed away from Cholangiocarcinoma, a rare form of cancer, at his home in Layton, Utah.

Rand was born in Price, Utah on January 17, 1947 to Robert P. and Geraldine Williams and was the eldest of four children. Rand graduated from Granger High School in Granger , UT in 1965. He also graduated from the Community College of the Air Force and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and the University of Utah.

Rand married Helen Darlene Cox in 1968 (later divorced) and they had two of the most beautiful daughters in the world, Mindy Leigh (Darrin) Roberts of Clearfield, UT and Cindy Lynn (Brett) Dickerson of South Jordan, UT.

Rand married MaryAnn Haskell (later divorced) and they had two wonderful sons Robert Mitchell and Rand Dylan Williams of Roy, UT. Rand loved his children with all his heart and they meant the world to him.

Rand met the love of his life, Valerie Westphal, and they married in June, 2004. From this union, Rand gained three more sons with Val’s boys. Roque, Rodney and Jesse Westphal. He also loved his grandkids Ryan, Karin, Mike Chris, Jeff, Conner, Cambri, Kaleb, Kylee, Jack, Jayden and the twins on the way. He especially loved giving them all a hard time.

Rand began his lifelong career at Hill AFB in 1971. He worked his way up from mechanic to Branch Chief of the F-16’s and C-130’s. When he retired in 2004 he was the Branch Chief of the A-10 program. Rand also retired from the US Air Force Reserve as Master Sergeant.

Survived by his wife, Children, sister; Laurie (Steve) Sowby and Paula (Rand) Prince, grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews that loved him dearly. Preceded in death by his parents and brother Robin.

The family would like to thank their friends and family for their tremendous support during this time. We love you all, very special thanks goes to Vickie for all the help and just being there.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Chapel, 1867 North Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Wednesday one hour prior at the mortuary. John Solomon

John Solomon Loving father, grandfather, brother and friend passed from this world March 2nd, 2008 in San Jose, California. He was born February 14, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ken and Marjorie Solomon.

John was an experienced pilot who loved all things related to flight. He enjoyed movies and music, his family and his friends. John was a master mechanic who worked throughout the Bay Area, both for dealerships and his own businesses. When the time came to retire his wrench, he found an interesting and intriguing job as an insurance investigator. John also loved all things electronic and was always the first person on the block to have the latest technological innovation.

He was proud of his country and was decorated for his service in Vietnam.

John was preceded in death by his second wife, Joy Solomon. (Machado). He is survived by his children: Glenn, Ken, Wendy, their loving mother Lynne, daughter Lori, his sisters Eileen and Jan, and his brother Rick, his inlaws Dick Machado, Mike Machado and Gay Stewart, and his grandchildren Gabriel, Rachel, Jaden, Jackson and Holly.

John was loved and admired for his positive personality, outrageous sense of humor and the ability to greatly impact the lives of everyone around him. He leaves behind a tremendous legacy of friendship and community involvement with the Kinship Resource Center and the Big Daddys group. Our family would like to thank John's life long friends Tom Law and John Manukyan for their companionship and devotion to him throughout his life. John Solomon will truly be missed by many.

Mark Healey

After battling pancreatic cancer for nearly three years, Mark C. Healey died peacefully at Logan Regional Hospital on Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, surrounded by his immediate family. He was 60 years old. Mark was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Calvin E. and Frances M. Healey on March 7, 1947. He attended the local public schools and graduated from Granger High School in 1965.

He spent six years serving in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. Mark believed in scientific inquiry to pursue knowledge and truth. He received BS and MS degrees from the University of Utah (Biology) and a PhD degree from Purdue University (Parasitology). After working 18 months as a Lecturer at Texas A&M University, Mark attended the College of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University where he graduated with the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM) in 1981. He immediately accepted a faculty position at Utah State University (USU) where he remained employed until his death.

For the first 17 years at USU, Mark and his many graduate students did research on animal and human parasites. He taught biology and pre-veterinary science courses to a variety of undergraduate and graduate students. For the past nine years, Mark served as the Head of the Department of Animal, Dairy and Veterinary Sciences (ADVS). His administrative motto was to treat every employee with civility, respect and fairness. He particularly enjoyed facilitating the career advancement of his fellow colleagues, which he believed was the key to being a successful administrator. Mark considered the ADVS Department to literally be an extension of his family. Prior to his death, he established the Mark C. and Jo Ann W. Healey Scholarship Quasi-Endowment Fund for all eligible ADVS student majors.

On June 20, 1969, Mark married his high school sweetheart (Jo Ann Wade) in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were married for 38 years and had three children. Mark and Jo Ann always considered their children to be their greatest accomplishment. Rachelle (Allen) Wright teaches elementary school at the South Thomas Edison Charter School in Cache Valley. Jeffrey is doing a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Christopher is a medical student at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.

Mark was an avid fisherman for most of his life. His brother (Terry) and sister (Susan), along with two of his best fishing buddies (Mark and Dick) spent many summer months hiking, camping and fishing throughout the Uinta and Wind River Mountains. Baseball was another of his passions. His sons (Jeff and Chris) played in all of the youth leagues in Cache Valley. Jeff went on to play American Legion baseball and later played with the Smithfield Blue Sox for four consecutive years after graduating from high school. Mark and Jo Ann rarely ever missed a game.

Mark is survived by his loving wife; three children; and his brother and sister. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family expresses their sincere appreciation to Drs. Dirk Davis, Mark Ott and Ali Ben-Jacob and staff for the professional services and compassion they extended to Mark during his lengthy illness.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 E. 400 North, Logan, Utah. Friends and family may call from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to services.
