Thank you for visiting this memorial page honoring those who either graduated or would have graduated from Granger High School in 1965. We are honoring as many former classmates as we can find who have passed on. They were our friends, associates, teammates and, in some cases, our lifelong partners and companions. We also honor our veterans and those gallant young men who gave their all, in defense of the country they loved so much. To our MIA, James Schiele, we will never forget you and will continue to look forward to the day your remains are returned to the land of the free, the home of the brave.

Thanks to everyone who helped in the development of this memorial page, especially Diane Day Cooper, who would have graduated a Lancer were it not for her parents relocating their family in 1960. Without her, this would not have been possible. Thom Rich

Boyd Wilson

May 2, 1947 – June 23, 2016
Boyd Allen Wilson was born on May 2, 1947 in Murray, Utah to William Walter and Elma Sarah Boggess Wilson. He was the youngest of three children, and was raised in their family home on Redwood Road in Bennion, Utah.

He attended schools in the Salt Lake Valley, graduating from Granger High School in 1965. He attended the University of Utah for one year, and then served a mission to Switzerland from 1966-1968. He returned to college, graduating from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 1972 and a Master’s degree in Business Administration in 1974.

Boyd married Susan Diane Rameson on June 6, 1973 in the Salt Lake Temple. Their marriage and family have been their greatest blessings. They have eight children, two daughters and six sons. At the present time they also have two sons-in-law, six daughters-in-law, and twenty-seven delightful grandchildren. They built their first home in Highland, Utah in 1976, and have many very dear neighbors, friends, and extended family members.

Boyd’s first work experience was with Fluor Engineers in Southern California, and then he worked for Horrock’s Engineers in American Fork, Utah. In the spring of 1978 he and three partners started their own engineering firm, Pioneer Engineering. His original company changed its name over the years as situations changed, becoming Arix Engineers, Versar Engineering, and Civil Science. He received great satisfaction in his company’s ability to provide employment opportunities for many people, and for many years their company was more like a family than a business. Boyd was an appointed member of the first Highland City Council when Highland City was incorporated in 1977. He also served on the Highland City Planning Commission and the Highland Water Company Board of Directors, and was the Highland City Engineer for many years.

Boyd was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His mission experience in Switzerland changed his life and prepared him for a lifetime of service. He served in numerous positions, including Elder’s quorum president, cub scout leader, scoutmaster, bishop’s counselor, Young Men’s president, stake Young Men’s counselor, bishop, stake high councilor, and counselor in the Highland Utah Stake presidency. Most recently he served in the Utah State Developmental Center Ward. He had an unshakable testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and enjoyed his church work as he tried to share the light of his testimony with others.

The greatest joy in Boyd’s life was his family. He worked very hard in order to provide growth opportunities and meaningful experiences for them. His wife, his children, their spouses, and now the quickly-expanding group of grandchildren were his first love and highest priority; their happiness always his first concern.

Boyd is survived by his wife, Susan; their children and spouses, Julie (Raymond) Robinson, Scott (Diana) Wilson, Kevin (Emily) Wilson, Lisa (Jon) Schaack, David (Megan) Wilson, Michael (Emily) Wilson, Steven (Claira) Wilson, and Ryan (Hannah)Wilson; his brother, Dennis (JoAnne) Wilson, and his sister, Jan Livingston. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Elma Wilson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Highland LDS Stake Center Chapel, 4679 West 11000 North, Highland, Utah. Family and friends may call Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Highland Stake Center Chapel and also at an additional viewing Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30 am prior to services at the church. Steve Nelson

Steve Nelson, age 68, died of cancer on October 13, 2015. He was born in Fall River Mills, CA on July 17, 1947 to Wilbur and Ethel Nelson. He grew up in Salt Lake City, UT, where his parents pastored a church, ran a gospel radio ministry, and taught their children in the ways of the LORD.

Steve and his first wife Cheryl moved to Seattle, WA in 1969, where they had their only son, Nate. Steve loved worshipping Jesus and leading other people in His praise, and in 1986, he became the worship leader at Woodland Baptist church (later Grace Fellowship). While there, Steve constantly showed the love of Christ to people in the Ballard area, and became pastor of the church in 2001.

In 2007, Steve met, fell in love with, and married Jennifer Stoops Nelson, and the following year, the Lord blessed them with a son, Luke. As a pastor, Steve continued to dad-and-luke-reading-july-2010grow in his commitment to trust the Lord and his son Jesus Christ in every area of his life, and to love every person he met as a creation of God. He lived according to Hebrews 10:35-36.

“Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.”

In July of 2015, in the midst of a three-year battle against cancer, Steve retired from Grace Fellowship and planned, with his wife Jen and son Luke, to move to Sequim, WA to begin a home ministry, teaching people about God’s grace through Jesus Christ. On October 13, Steve, like that Great Cloud of Witnesses before him, “died in faith, not having received the dad-nate-and-luke-may-2010things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that [he was a stranger and exile] on the earth.” (Hebrews 11:13)

Steve’s love for others and the strength of his faith in God’s power and goodness continue to set an example for his family, his flock, and his friends.

Steve is survived by his wife Jen and his sons Nate, Jazz, and Luke. His memorial service will be at Calvary Ballard (410 NW 62nd St., Seattle, WA, 98107) on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 2:00pm.

Lynn Burrows

Lynn Richard Burrows peacefully left this world to join his sweetheart Jackie on October 4, 2015. He passed away at home of natural causes. He was one of 6 children to parents Richard and Dorothy Burrows. He was blessed to call Jackie's 7 siblings his own as well. He grew up in Bennion, Utah. He graduated from Granger High School in 1965 and shortly after married Jackie, the love of his life, on April 25, 1966. They were married 49 years. Lynn and Jackie were never apart until just 6 months ago when Jackie passed away from an illness. He told us she taught him how to love. They prove that true love's bond can never be broken. We are happy for the joyous reunion they are having.

Everyone that knew Lynn loved and admired him. He was a quiet man whose loyalty, integrity, and hard work gave him many opportunities. Shortly after his high school graduation he joined the Army and served his country well. He was instrumental in establishing AYSO Soccer in the Cottonwood Heights and surrounding areas. He received many honors while working as a respected Master Electrician and Businessman. He was admired for his honesty and work ethic. He was enjoying his retirement and using his time golfing, bowling and having fun with his children and grandchildren. He spent many years bowling on a men's league at All Star Lanes in West Jordan. That was his home away from home up until his passing. He treasured many friendships there.

Family meant everything to Lynn. He taught us to be generous, honest, caring, giving, respectful and determined. He showed us how to stand up for the things we believe in. He was our protector, provider and best friend. We will miss you Dad! You're the best Dad and Grandpa we could have asked for. Give Mom a kiss for us. We love you!

Lynn is survived by his son Dennis (Larkin), son Dean (Jessica), daughter Dee (Larry), 10 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

An Open House to celebrate Lynn's life will be held at the Burrows residence at 5479 W. Clipper Peak Circle in Herriman, Utah on Friday, October 16th, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 pm. Online condolences may be shared at www.jenkins-soffe.com.

"Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide. Always give a word or sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, or even a stranger, if in a lonely place. Show respect to all people, but grovel to none. When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life, for your strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason to give thanks, the fault lies in yourself. Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero."

Truly cherished memories will come from their times shared.

Joe went to Granger High School and met lifetime friends. Joe was a Vietnam Vet and very proud of it. He flies a flag everyday in front of his home to show honor to his country. He loved the game of baseball. His beloved Yankees he lived for and traveled to watch play. He's excited to see Mickey Mantel. Joe played basketball for Utah, Dixie and for Westminster College's where he met his coach, Tom Steinke, whom he loved and honored.

Joe married Debbie Bird (later divorced). From this union came his two wonderful children. His son Zachary Lee Winrow (Marie) and three grandchildren: Gannon, Scarlette, and Bella. His baby, Alexandra Lee Winrow and her daughter , Charlee. He loved his grandchildren.

Joe worked for the Postal Service for 36 years. It was there he met in his own words, "his best friend-soul mate-love of his life" Mickey Winrow. They had crazy and wild adventures and always had fun. Mickey had a little baggage for Joe in the form of seven more children whom he took under his wing and raised as his own. He is lovingly known as "Pops" to John (Cathy) Gonzales, Michelle (Ray) Miera, Willie Archuleta (Alyssa), Joshua Archuleta, Bobby (Danielle) Archuleta and Mariah (lovingly known to him as "Mo") Krizman. Also deceased stepson, Anthony Archuleta. This added 14 more grandchildren and a mother-in-law, Maxine Ledkins and the Britton's. I love you all. They also had three kids of their own. Their beloved Shi-tzu's "Yankee Lee", "Corona Kay", and "Tinkerbell" aka E.T. He will surely miss them and they will miss him.

Throughout his career at the Post Office, he met many wonderful friends. Farley, Hully, Big Bird, Shane, Woody, Webb, and great friend Jim Sargent. Thanks for your loyalty till the end. RIP Dave Bodily. Joe had a best friend throughout his life-Hoagy, and he wanted to make sure to let him know how much he loved him. "See you on the other side brother". Joe loved to play and watch all sports. He loved camping. His and Mickey's favorite mile marker 42 on Mirror Lake Highway where there were many Joe (Sasquatch) sightings up there. He also had great memories of he and his brother Stan camping and just having a great time together.

He was preceded in death by his grandpa, Jesse McPherron whom he adored, Grandma Pearl McPherron, grandpa Rufus Winrow, grandmother Annie Winrow, his aunt Barbara whom he loved and missed terribly. Natalie I will tell her hello, I promise.
